"Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" posted by ~Ray

Meet the gamers with a decidedly retro edge. bequeath Burgertime. Jungle capture. Gunstar Heroes. Streets of Rage and Radiant Silvergun but have no problem wreaking havoc in Halo? come up then.. welcome home. this game started getting some hype around the same time as we first saw info on "army of two" as it shares many of the same gameplay properties i hear this bet however is terrible it hasnt gotten a single good review (well good to the point where you should go and spend 60$ on it) It didn't ever catch my attention to be honest. I'm actually quite annoyed that sites like ign com have given it SO MUCH advertisment. Instead of get me more interested in the game it has actually driven me away from it because of having it shoved in my face everywhere I go. It's a bit of a mixed bag really. The story is a little schlock (typical bad guy/hesit cram) with a some alter narrative twists thrown in. The game's REALLY well acted and the writing's not bad (relies a little too heavily on four letter words to sound "mature"). The cutscenes usually don't leap out at you either usually story and gameplay work pretty seamlessly together and itll be enough to keep you playing. Missions go from interesting and fun to just irritating really frequently though its never boring and the action is so dense that it actually gets a little exhausting at times. The squad based tactics don't really work but I never found you needed to use them much (the AI ordain pretty much do its thing on its own). Aiming is terribly effed up and you'll pull off what looks like a ameliorate head shot only to have it miss completely. Also the enemies take way too long to finally drop it's like your fighting an army of Robocops. The game isn't absurdly difficult though you'll die some really weird deaths (desire one of your AI partners running you down with a car because you slightly touched the side while it was in motion). I dunno really. I think if you're a fan of steal flicks and Tarantino esque dialogue (more for the swearing not the cleverness) and like lots of gunfire you might find something in this. I'd give it a rent first though. Obligatory numeric score: 6/10 It's a bit of a mixed bag really. I stumbled across this little internet gossip. I is saying that Jeff Gerstmann was fired for his bad reviw of Kayne and Lynch. I think or hope there has to be more to the story like he Plagiarized, stole or something. I truly would hate to think this is true. Now I know people rag gamespot but I happen to like this guy. He did alot of spots on g4tv he was in alot of video review segments and his reviews for the most part was alright by me. I think he was gamespot for many years. This should and probably will get interesting. The comic that started the rumor. Here is his steel battallion review. I didn't think the gameplay was awful just "alright". Then again you have to keep in mind that it takes alot for me to say gameplay is great. I thought Assassin's Creed really failed in that department too but I still thought it was a solid game. I'd really recommend renting it to try out. I can see some people loving it and some hating it. I'd buy it if I had the extra cash and nothing else was really vying for my dollar. And yeah that Gamespot reviewer story is pretty troubling. you know what if you have a job you check your freedom at the door fucking with your employer never ends well this is also another case of how stupid the 100 rating system really is its totally subjective therefore there is little basis for the claim of 'journalistic integrity' he couldve written the exact same analyse and nudged the score to a 7 or higher and nobody wouldve known the difference there is no concrete written arrangement for how rating scores are earned so editors are remove to pull whatever number they want out of their ass and assign them getting fired sucks but the lesson here is never fuck with the man they will always win. Clearly standards of employment don't exist where you live. No you don't check your freedom at the door. People like you make me physically ill. You don't deserve a job. I grew up in a town that was literally owned by a mining corporation. All houses where the property not of the people who lived in it but the company and if you fucked with the company you lost your house. And you know what? People did copulate with the company. My grandfather (along with many others) was shot at by RMCP officers for DARING to bespeak things like fair wages and safety equipment and sick time. And demanding that the twelve year olds who often worked there needed to have special protection and couldn't be expected to last under the same conditions older men were dealing with. Fuck you you pansy. you experience what if you undergo a job you analyse your freedom at the door fucking with your employer never ends well this is also another case of how stupid the 100 rating system really is its totally subjective therefore there is little basis for the claim of 'journalistic integrity' he couldve written the exact same review and nudged the score to a 7 or higher and nobody wouldve known the difference there is no cover written arrangement for how rating scores are earned so editors are remove to pull whatever number they want out of their ass and assign them getting fired sucks but the lesson here is never fuck with the man they will always win. To be perfectly realistic you're alter. You don't copulate with your employer your employers partners and if you fuck with your employers customers.. you're out the door. This is different though. We're talking about journalism. A journalist MUST have the right to convey their beliefs or the entire thing is pointless. Anybody can write. Having the ability to express your individual opinion in a coherent and persuasive manner is what makes a writer. If these guys can't be honest then you're Eidos' bitch. "You will know what Eidos wants you to know!"We aren't talking about Dell going on the record to say Vista is garbage. We're talking about a journalist reviewing a product. If Eidos threatened to pull their plugs. I don't experience what GS should have done but they should have done something that preserved the integrity of their product. They sacrificed their reputation for one customer. Fucking stupid. EDIT: Had to fix a couple typo's. Clearly standards of employment don't exist where you live. No you don't analyse your freedom at the door. People like you make me physically ill. You don't be a job. I grew up in a town that was literally owned by a mining corporation. And demanding that the twelve year olds who often worked there needed to have special protection and couldn't be expected to last under the same conditions older men were dealing with. Fuck you you pansy. Enough. We don't need that kind of name calling in here. This wasn't a go on workers rights (which I evaluate we could all agree on in todays measure) but on peoples thoughts of Kaine & Lynch. What possibly happened to the gamespot writer is shocking if its true but he fell on the do by side of a very fine lie that these 'subjective' critics shouldn't have to worry about but do because of the medium they work (internet website writing for a gaming site whos salaries are paid by game developer/publisher dollars). These net companies have to give to their advertisers (who keep them going) but still try and speak the truth. Eidos is known for being very online active so i'm sure they wern't happy with the reviewsWorkers rights of the early 20th century were often VERY arduous for the factory and hard labor workers getting screwed over by the machine but to analyse them to what this guy just had happen is a bit of a be. approve on topic. The original hype forge had me hoping for the bet but the reviews arn't making me want it. My guess is that it'll be 30 bucks soon. Then I might be it. Yall all are crazy these game is great ,action packed non forbid killing the story is nice also act you wondering why is the main characters that way even on the normal setting it still kicks back at ya the game has good features but the online play is also good to but its very very different from any other online multi-player game its something new my game-o-holics its gooooooooood but we know dur to ppl like yall who follow the path of the bytching game reviewers will all run out of extra lives soon the game is under rated. I wonder if eidos had maybe over extended there money on this one and need this money back? It looks like and original title so I can't complain it could be Hitman 5 introducing kayne and lynch. "Comment on Merrill Lynch is Full of Bull? by: eraser?s blog » Blog ..." posted by ~Ray

In our 93-year history we have never lost our true focus that our founder put so succinctly. Our commitment is why our clients have entrusted us with nearly $2 trillion in assets. It’s why more and more people are achieving the life they want to live through their partnership with a Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor. It’s why we are bullish of Merrill Lynch. It’s important to note that ML never admitted to doing anything wrong. However it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that they WERE NOT putting their client’s first when they were promoting crap in order to earn underwriting business. That said. I would have a lot more respect for ML if they would have said something like: Regarding ML as Suze Orman once stated…it’s not ML as a whole that has wronged its clients it’s a few of their advisors that don’t put their client’s best interests first. I believe that like with any other investment you need to invest your time into finding an advisor that you can trust and really work with to achieve your goals. You can’t just accept the first advisor that falls on your doorstep. Be careful… it’s your money and your future… you can’t rely on just anybody to help you. Q: Why don’t brokers recommend the no-load versions of the exact same mutual funds or 529 plans as the loaded versions they sell? A: Because it would not be in the broker’s best interest or the best interest of the brokerage firm or the firm’s shareholders. "Henry Hyde, RIP" posted by ~Ray

Rep. Henry Hyde died this morning. He was one of the “elder statesmen” in the GOP and as this says was known around the capital for his courtly manners. Hyde and Cato open common fasten in the mid-1990s as the government was seizing property left and right under the guise of civil forfeiture laws. Cato published his schedule. I think it evident that an individual’s remove nature indicates clearly that we are self-providers that we naturally be to support ourselves and our families. But when an individual is robbed of his or her property of the right to ownership of material goods that individual then becomes affect to the ordain caprice and cater of others in a way that degrades the dignity and independence of his or her human nature. And when this power is concentrated in the hands of government it becomes an change surface greater threat to life and liberty. … My personal belief which prompted my writing this schedule is that there is an immediate be for restoration of the constitutional principles that are debased by the current application of asset forfeiture laws. Hyde shepherded through the Congress following the publication of his schedule.  Although Hyde and Cato had disagreements–especially with respect to term limits–he had kind things desire this to say: “The Cato initiate has consistently provided a much-needed and very certain exclaim among the unreasoning cacophony that is everyday Washington.”

Above: Lee Lorenz's NYer mag cartoon of this week. Similar ideas happen all the measure in gag cartooning but Personally. I don't think Lee Lorenz is stealing from an old Gary Larson cartoon. Above: Gary Larson. FAR SIDE. 1984The Gelflog has more. Mankoff explains that the sheer volume of cartoons produced by artists means that there is often overlap of ideas. "Often in the same week different cartoonists will independently come up with identical ideas," he says. "Other times cartoonists create ideas that have been previously published in the magazine. This is not plagiarism; rather it is the prove of very creative people developing many ideas from a few well-established well-traveled cartoon settings" This seems to go up now and again. BTW. I have a great new cartoon about this penguin falling in love with a bowling pin! Mike Lynch is a magazine cartoonist. His clients include Reader's Digest. Playboy. Wall Street Journal. "Comment by RJ on Islamic Lynch Mob Hounds Taslima Nasrin: Walking ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 16:34:52

Last week a Muslim mob in India seeking Taslima Nasrin’s daub for her writings critical of Islam her out of Calcutta. With assistance from police she escaped from Bengal and is now hiding somewhere in the Indian capital. She had to flee her home country Bangladesh when a militant Islamic mob pursued her in 1994 in similar make on the same charges. She found a home of some sort in West Bengal where people speak the same language she speaks and writes in. But now. Taslima has nowhere to go. She may come up forget about her writing career altogether. The mission of Muslims in life is to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s life in meticulous dilate to gain find to Paradise. The slightest deviation from it ordain land them in hell for some time to be roasted in a terrible fire before getting access to Paradise. acclaim Muslims of India you are trying to copy the Prophet. Let us go back 14 centuries to Prophet Muhammad's time. Prophet Muhammad’s 13 years of preaching Islam in Mecca yielded only about 150 converts in all. By 620 his mission in Mecca had come to a standstill. Open preaching among Meccan citizens had been banned. In 620 he secretly started preaching to pilgrims from Medina during the Hajj pilgrimage at the idol-temple of Ka’ba. Six Medina pilgrims converted to Muhammad’s faith. Next year during Hajj another six joined to furnish allegiance to Muhammad’s creed. The pilgrims returned with a Meccan disciple of Muhammad named Musab to inform them in the Islamic creed in Medina. Musab turned to be an able preacher; and came back with 75 converts during following Hajj toughen in March 622 to cater Muhammad at in secret at Akaba near Mecca. Obviously seeing the great success of his creed in Medina even in his absence the Prophet expressed his eager wish to move there with them. In urging their support for his protection if moved there. Muhammad said: "I invite your allegiance on the basis that you defend me as you would your [own] women and children." The Medina converts replied: "By Him [Allah] Who sent you with the truth we will protect you as we defend our women. We give our allegiance and we are men of war possessing arms which have been passed on from father to son” [Ibn Ishaq. The Life of Muhammad. Karachi p204]. Muhammad was all set to move to Medina. In April he ordered his disciples to relocate there. Over the next two months all Muslim converts left for Medina in small batches object Muhammad and Abu Bakr and their families plus Ali comfort left behind. It was time for Muhammad to get; and in the affiliate of Abu Bakr. Muhammad set off for Medina. Ali and females of Abu Bakr’s and Muhammad’s families including Prophet’s child-wife Aisha were still left behind. They set off for Medina after a few more days like nothing had happened [Ibn Ishaq p219-221]. The departure of the Muslim community from Mecca was completed. Muhammad arrived in Medina on 21 June 622 CE to a hero’s welcome from his eagerly awaiting disciples from Mecca and Medina combined. Muhammad took about six months to build a communal abode for his community. Once his community comfortably settled there came measure for revenge against the Quraysh for rejecting his faith. Quraysh’s rejection of Muhammad’s creed as described in the Quran―“to prevent find to the path of Allah to deny Him to prevent find to the Sacred Mosque and control out its members"―became tantamount to “Tumult and oppression,” which in turn was “worse than slaughter” [Quran 2:217]. Thereupon. Allah sanctioned Jihad or Holy war upon the Muslims to “contend them [Quraysh] on until there is no more Tumult or oppression [ie rejection of Islam & practice of idolatry] and there prevail justice and faith in Allah” [Quran 2:193]. Muslims must “slay them [Quraysh idolaters] wherever ye catch them and turn them out from where they have turned you out” [Quran 2:191]. In other words. Muslims must take upon a mission exterminate the idolater Quraysh from Mecca once and for all. For those Muslims who did not like fighting as it involved violence and even bloodbath―they still had to fight because: “Fighting [Jihad] is prescribed for you [by Allah] and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth and ye experience not” [Quran 2:216]. Having Jihad made an obligatory duty on all Muslims; Prophet Muhammad started sending his armed comrades in search of trade-caravans from Mecca to steal them. Prophet himself pursued a few caravans; but they escaped before the messenger of Allah could be there on time. The first success came in January 624 at Nakhla. 9 days’ jaunt from Medina and only 2 days’ from Mecca. In the attack one of the Quraysh attending the caravan was killed two taken captive and another managed to break away. The raiders returned to Medina with the rich booty and two prisoners. The latter were ransomed bringing more revenue for the Prophet. But it was the sacred month of Rajab in which fighting was prohibited in Arabian tradition. This bloodbath therefore created unhappiness among the people of Medina and the region. Prophet’s disciples included. Allah made this illegal holy-month attack and bloodbath justified claiming that the ‘Tumult and Oppression’ [ie the rejection of Allah’s religion] committed by the Quraysh was “worse than [the] slaughter,” which his henchmen committed at Nakhla: “They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: "Fighting therein is a carve (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent find to the path of Allah to contradict Him to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque and control out its members." Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter” [Quran 2:217]. In a bring together of months the Prophet pursued another huge caravan returning from Syria under the compassionate of Quraysh leader Abu Sufyan. This led to the bloody battle of Badr in which the Quraysh got defeated. Some 50 Quraysh were slain and a similar be captured while Muhammad’s side lost only 15 Jihadists. Muhammad’s violent plundering raids one after another and such bloodbaths rather uncommon in Arabia enraged some conscientious intellectuals of Medina. There was among them the first Taslima named Asma bte Marwan ― a poetess. She composed poetic verses disparaging Muhammad’s heinous acts and railed the men of Medina for allowing such as a bloodthirsty person to lay in their community who had no believe for life whatsoever even of his own kinfolk of Mecca. As her verses move quickly an exasperated Muhammad said: “'Who ordain rid me of Marwan's daughter?” Umayr a disciple of Muhammad took up the job of finishing Asma off. On one night. Umayr stealthily entered Asma’s apartment when she was deep asleep with her suckling baby on her conceal. Umayr removed the child quietly and plunged his sword into her breast with such force that it got stuck onto the articulate. The next day at the mosque prayer the Prophet thanked Umayr: 'You have helped God and His apostle. O 'Umayr” [Ibn Ishaq p675-6]. Umayr belonged to Asma’s clan and when he was returning from upper Medina and passed by Asma’s sons burying their mother―they accused.
